acupuncture really works

Interesting news that studies confirm that acupuncture does indeed owrk and differently to placebo treatment [which also work but to a lesser extent]. What we need to be wary of as Christians is making the jump that often people do makeand which is a driver in the growth of New Age ideas. The jump is that demonstrating something like acupunture works does not necessarily mean that the traditional explanation [in this case chi flowing in the body -feng Shui for the indivudual person] is correct. That would be like saying that becasue we discovered the bark of a tree and were alerted to it by tribal shamans, that we should discount the analgesic chemical and endorse the animistic explanation of our guides.
Me, I'm awaiting further scientific tests.

This post keeps getting spammed by acupuncture back pain treatment people. While I have no problem with people advertising services, I do object to this as it is not in keeping with the spirit of the posting which is about the philosophical aspects. Please be advised that advertising acupuncture services via comments to this post will result in deletion of the post normally within 24 hours. My traffic analysis shows that the only person likely to see it in that time is me and I'm not interested, so don't waste your time.

"Spend and tax" not "tax and spend"

I got a response from my MP which got me kind of mad. You'll see why as I reproduce it here. Apologies for the strange changes in types...
