The ironic outcomes of the bureaucratic mind -part 4

Eleven months ago I wrote the referenced post about our accommodation in this juncture in our lives. I'm afraid I have to report as one still feeling badly done by. You will need to read the original article to understand fully ... anyhow, we recently discovered that the house we had been living in and enquired whether we could continue to live in for another year and were discouraged from considering further has actually been empty all the time till now and recently they have put it up for rent. My suspicion is that it would have been cheaper for them to have kept us in that house than to be renting a house for us in more expensive Durham. It appears, however, that the principle of bureaucratic tidiness is more important even than such financial considerations. I'm annoyed. Got a good mind to write and tell 'em so.

"Spend and tax" not "tax and spend"

I got a response from my MP which got me kind of mad. You'll see why as I reproduce it here. Apologies for the strange changes in types...
