Interliving

We sometimes need to recall that there is quite an ideological freight in the way that theories of evoloution have been adopted and embedded into our cultures. Ways of describing evolution that heavy in on competition and mutual destruction serve to bolster market capitalism all too readily. However, we really do need to give a lot of attention to the other side of the picture, arguably the most significant; co-operation, or as this article calls it 'interliving' [a phrase I like]. "'the driving force in nature is cooperation.' (Lewis Thomas, The Fragile Species)". If you don't understand how, then you need a deprogramming and a [re-]acquainting with things such as symbiosis, the make up of cells and bodies ... intersting to put it together with ideological awareness of our society too. Why is it, for example that we are becoming more aware of the symbiotic nature of world development now? Was Teilhard de Chardin onto something with his noosphere?
