I love the symbolism of the four elements and have a yen to do something with it liturgically. However, I don't really feel that they work well in a context informed by modern science. So what would I replace them with? Well one idea I'm playing with in odd moments of mental down-time is: energy, matter, life and awareness. Another is: energy, matter, chaos and emergence.
What would you nominate as a new four elements, or five if you want to be more Chinese about it?
Nous like scouse or French -oui? We wee whee all the way ... to mind us a bunch of thunks. Too much information? How could that be?
