It's being presented as 'new', but this idea has been mooted before in cosmology and in a way in Hindu cosmology ... but we should be aware that there are issues in cosmology which mean that the Big Bang is not necessarily the final word. What is interesting also is to see how the scientific community deals with the issue and the kind of objections...
