If only they had this attitude across the board.

I felt a frisson of irony as I read the government's reason for not delivering its promised legislation on forced marriage.
"'I do not intend for us to have ill-conceived legislation which may damage the interests of the victims that we are seeking to protect."

Pity that point of view was not in the arena when ID cards were being battered through the legislative process. It's funny how manifesto commitments can drop at some points and be all important at others...
