Less sun is better than more suncream

Those who have met me in person will know that I do not tan. So I have spent most of the last 15 years trying to stay out of the sun in summer. I long for the return to a Victorian body aesthetic where paleness of skin was valued. So no surprise that I feel moved to bring this to your attention.
“Wearing sun protective clothes and a hat and reducing sun exposure to a minimum – should be preferred to sunscreens. Often this solution is deemed to be unacceptable in our global, outdoor society, and sunscreens could become the predominant mode of sun protection for various societal reasons, for example healthiness of a tan, relaxation in the sun. Nevertheless, sunscreens should not be abused in an attempt to increase time in the sun to a maximum.”

Come on in; the shade is lovely.
