I must admit that, if I have understood correctly the basic idea of this design, I thought it had already been invented quite some time ago and presumed that it's lack of use was due to having been found wanting. Perhaps it has simply taken this long for it to be tested and the engineering practicalities worked out. Good news all round though, it would seem. I recall that this design was being touted for a now breed of sailing ships using wind turbines like this rather than sails.
