My kids brought it to my attention about 18 months ago [more?] in the form 'Charva' meaning tracksuit bottom & bling-wearing burberryists usually with dubious morals and antisocial attitudes. Charva seems to originate as the Romany for a 'prostitute', whereas Chav seems to be a cleaned up alternative meaning 'child'. Funny how words come and go ...
