Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | Dolphins flourish in North Sea

At first this seems like a good news story on global warming. "'The sea is changing,' said a trawler skipper, Stephen Moss, whose ship, Green Pastures, of Blyth, Northumberland, has increasingly been trailed by dolphins in the last year. 'We've been catching commercial quantities of red mullet and occasionally pilchard, and this year we were hauling in mackerel right up to Christmas. We're definitely seeing changes in the water temperature. The number of squid now is just unreal.'"

However, we need to recall that it may be short-term. The warmer water is leading to more melt from the Arctic, which in turn makes the redirection or turn-off of the Gulf Stream more likely; thus losing north west Europe 5degC of temperature on average. Frozen Thames anyone -that's if it's not submerged in a bigger estuary?

"Spend and tax" not "tax and spend"

I got a response from my MP which got me kind of mad. You'll see why as I reproduce it here. Apologies for the strange changes in types...
