[Footprint] Potato Proliferation

Well, I was thrilled to discover today the fruits (or rather tubers) of my first major agricultural foray:

About two months ago I'd practically dumped some sprouting potatoes (that were unusable to eat) into the ground in the vague hope that perhaps they would grow. The plants duly grew and looked quite healthy. Anyhow, on return from hols we discovered the plants beginning to wilt, and with the threat of a mini-skip coming to squash them I decided to dig them up (or at least have a little look). We now have 8 kilograms of healthy looking potatoes, some of which are reasonably big. This is about ten quids worth (organic) so bearing in mind that they are a tax free income (hurrah!) then they are well worth the time invested. Next year there is no reason why we shouldn't get two harvests each of around 25 kilograms.

I feel well on our way to producing a reasonable amount of our own food. With a little more land area and a bit more experience and planning I'm sure that we can be relatively productive.

"Spend and tax" not "tax and spend"

I got a response from my MP which got me kind of mad. You'll see why as I reproduce it here. Apologies for the strange changes in types...
