Mullahs target women runners

This article gives some really important insight into the way that arguments are running in the Islamic world about things like modesty and women. THe really telling comment comes near the end: "'They think we run in knickers and shorts and tracksuits. said Mrs Huma. 'But we wear traditional dress, including shalwar kameez and a dupatta [headscarf]." This speaks volumes ...

My personal favourite quote though was from a placard protesting against the hardliners: "The obscenity is in your mind." Quite so; if male hearts were pure then the sight of a woman should not endanger moral welfare. Isn't it about time that this issue was addressed in Islam? Looks like some Muslims are beginning to think so.
